Here’s some good news for Delhi folks who enjoy weekend breaks in Jaipur. The Delhi-Jaipur route is being reduced to a 3-hour journey with the upcoming opening of a new expressway link. The new section, spanning around 69 km, connects Bandikui to Jaipur. Part of the larger Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, it is designed as a high-speed, access-controlled route, allowing for speeds up to 120 km/h. The project is expected to reduce travel time between Jaipur and Delhi significantly, potentially by over an hour.The RouteThe Bagrana to Bandikui corridor creates a vital link between the outskirts of Jaipur and Bandikui, allowing commuters to bypass the longer and often congested Jaipur-Agra highway via Dausa. Travellers coming from areas like Rotary Circle or Ring Road can now access the expressway more efficiently through a dedicated cloverleaf ramp and slip lane at Bagrana.With this improved access, the journey to the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) Flyway is expected to take just around 2.5 hours. Including travel within Delhi—whether to the New Delhi Railway Station or IGI Airport—the total trip from Jaipur could be completed in approximately 3 to 3.5 hours, cutting down travel time by more than an hour compared to the typical 4.5-hour journey.Before this, vehicles from Delhi, Gurgaon, and Faridabad would exit the expressway at Dausa and continue on NH-21, a four-lane road that passes through several towns and villages, with a speed limit capped at 100 km/h. The new Bandikui link will eliminate these complex route changes, allowing for a smoother, more direct journey.To enhance regional connectivity, four new interchanges have been constructed along the Bagrana-Bandikui route. Located at Bhedoli, Khurikurd, Sundarpura, and Geela ki Nangal, these interchanges are designed to streamline traffic flow and provide easier access for surrounding villages. By offering more efficient entry and exit points, they are expected to significantly reduce local congestion. At present, most travellers rely on the Bandhrej exit in Dausa and continue along the often-congested Jaipur-Agra highway. The new interchanges aim to shift this traffic pattern, easing pressure on the existing route and improving overall travel efficiency in the region.Trial RunsThe trial run of the Bandikui–Jaipur Link Expressway commenced last Wednesday and will continue for a period of ten days. During this time, commuters can use the expressway without paying any toll charges. Officials have stated that the trial phase is being conducted to thoroughly test all systems and infrastructure, including safety features, signage, and road quality. This period will also allow authorities to identify and resolve any operational issues or technical glitches.
