The program comes with a view to protect the city's cultural legacy and curb the number of day visitors. Venice steps up its fight against over tourism by rolling out a stricter tourist entry fee from April 18. Day-trippers must now pay between EUR 5–EUR 10 (approx. INR 455 to INR 910) or face fines up to EUR300 (approx. INR 29,000)
