Hundreds of sheep walked through Spain's Madrid on Sunday in the annual Transhumance Festival that reasserts the centuries-old rights of shepherds to move around the country with their sheep. In the festival, shepherds make the symbolic migration through the paved roads of Madrid to reassert their right to use the drovers' route that passes through Madrid. The right was granted as per a pact between the city and the shepherds in the 15th century. Madrid has held the festival since 1994.
