This World Health Day, actress Arushi Nishank says that she makes sure to leave no stone unturned in order to take care of her health. Working out and meditation have helped her a lot, she says.

“I am a firm believer of the saying, a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Starting the day early usually isn't easy for me because of my current work schedule, but I make it a point to never skip a workout. Sparing an hour for a workout not only makes my day start fresh but also clears my mind. I have been working out in the morning for years now and understand the importance of it. Another practice that has helped me is meditating. 20 minutes in a day, whenever I get time, between the shoots, or else even before sleeping,” she says.

She adds, “My purpose for doing both meditation and workout is that it helps in bringing calmness in me. I am a very hyper active person in general. If I want something, I make sure I work really hard towards that goal and, due to that, my mind is always working. Meditating right before sleeping helps me clear my mind and have a good night's sleep. Working out in the morning helps me for my physical fitness and on the other hand, meditating helps me for my mental health. The noticeable changes within myself is the reason I can totally vouch for these.”

Ask her for two tips to stay healthy, and she says, “Good food and a healthy mind are the way to a healthy life. People usually consider healthy living as expensive, which is not the case. Following a simple routine with proper nutrition and a good sleeping pattern does half the job for you. Importance should be given to both physical and mental health, as both go hand in hand.”

She adds, “We have been so busy making our lives comfortable, that we have forgotten to take care of ourselves. Our health has taken a backseat now. I feel the only way we can bring a change in this is by inculcating the importance of a healthy life from a very young age. Children should be made aware of the importance of leading a healthy life. Also, just like people nowadays are more aware about their mental health and are taking measures to improve it, maybe people in the coming days will become more aware of their physical health as well kyuki afterall 'jaan hai toh jahaan hai'.”
