Located in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, Hampi has charmed history enthusiasts and adventurers for decades. The UNESCO World Heritage site is comprised of remnants of the capital city of the Vijayanagara Empire, and is renowned for incredible archaeological structures set in the backdrop of a unique landscape. From the acclaimed Lotus Mahal, with influences from Indo-Islamic architecture to the Royal Gaj (elephant stables) and the Virupaksha Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, this historically rich region of Karnataka has a wealth of treasures. You must stay for at least three days to explore the treasures of Hampi in some depth.
