Apple Music Replay was officially launched on November 28, preceding the release of Spotify Wrapped, the end-of-year feature from its competitor.

Apple Music Replay operates with a unique approach compared to Spotify Wrapped—it's a permanent feature within the Apple Music app, providing weekly updates throughout the year. However, today marks the debut of the more individualized Highlights summary, allowing users to share their music insights on social media by tapping the share icon located in the bottom-right corner of the app.

How to get your Apple Music Replay 2023

To access your Replay for the current year, visit replay.music.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID. This page features a Highlight Reel offering a comprehensive overview of a user's 2023 Apple Music listening history. Apple likely introduced Replay ahead of the anticipated early December launch of Spotify Wrapped, providing users with a chance to explore their music insights before the influx of Wrapped stats shared on platforms like Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

Year End Chart Toppers Of 2023

Apple Music had previously declared Taylor Swift as the artist of the year for 2023. According to the company, 65 of her tracks made it to the Global Daily Top 100 chart within the first 10 months of the year, establishing her as the most popular artist on the platform.

“All told, more Apple Music subscribers listened to Taylor Swift in 2023 than to any other artist in the world, and this set a new all-time record for the most listeners for any artist in a single year on Apple Music,” is how the company explained it.

Despite her recognition as Apple Music's artist of the year for 2023, Taylor Swift did not claim the top spot for the platform's biggest track this year. That distinction belongs to country artist Morgan Wallen's 'Last Night,' marking the first country song to lead these rankings since 'Old Town Road' in 2019.

In the official announcement, Apple highlighted a significant increase in the presence of country music on its platform, noting that 11 country tracks secured a place in the top 100 for 2023, a notable rise from just four the previous year. Additionally, Morgan Wallen claimed the title of having the most popular album on Apple Music in 2023 with his long-player, 'One Thing at a Time.'

Other Apple Music Replay Trends

  • Among the trends emphasized in Apple Music's end-of-year charts is the surge in popularity of Afrobeats. Rema's remix of 'Calm Down,' featuring Selena Gomez, secured the 12th position as the platform's biggest track of the year. Furthermore, the song claimed the top spot on Apple's distinct chart for the most-Shazamed tracks.
  • Additional notable trends include the presence of two Japanese pop (J-Pop) tracks within the top 10 of Apple Music's global songs chart. Among them, Yoasobi's 'Idol' stands out as the most popular track on the platform's karaoke-style 'Sing' feature.
  • For the first time, four tracks from the Música Mexicana genre have made it into the top 100 overall on Apple Music in 2023. Peso Pluma, the breakout star of the scene, achieved the highest entry with the 18th-placed track 'Ella Baila Sola,' in collaboration with Eslabon Armado.
  • Apple Music reported an increase in the representation of R&B, noting that there are now 14 R&B tracks in its top 100 for 2023, compared to 11 the previous year. Furthermore, three of these R&B tracks secured positions within the top 10.
