As the festive season nears, Indian Railways is preparing for a surge in family travellers during the winter school holidays. Trains remain one of the most affordable ways to journey across the country, offering comfort without high costs.

Ahead of the Christmas and New Year rush, the Railways has updated its child ticket rules to simplify bookings and ease expenses for families. Children under five can travel free if they do not occupy a separate berth or seat, while those requiring one must pay the full adult fare, ensuring clarity and fairness for all passengers.
