Braving the threat of violence, villagers of the Naxal-dominated Abujhmad region in South Bastar showed up at the Pahurnar village polling booth in large numbers to cast their vote amid heavy security.

At least 700 voters voted here in the first phase of Assembly Elections in Chhattisgarh on November 7. Officials were seen assisting the elderly to the polling booths. Many people walked for 15 kilometres from their villages to vote in Pahurnar.
