Madhya Pradesh Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar on Thursday said that the chapter on Veer Savarkar will be made compulsory in the school curriculum across the state.

Criticising the Congress government, Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Arvind Bhadoria said, "Veer Savarkar must be taught in schools. He was amongst the country's most prominent revolutionaries. The Congress wants to glorify those who were symbol of slavery."

Inder Singh added that the Congress government had not reached the "true revolutionaries of India". He said, "Unfortunately, Congress did not teach about the true revolutionaries of India. We will include biographies of true heroes and the new syllabus will include Veer Savarkar, Bhagavad Gita Sandesh, Lord Parshuram, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru and others."

In response to the state government's decision, Madhya Pradesh Congress MLA Arif Masood, said, "It is unfortunate that they want to include Savarkar. He apologized to the British and including him in the syllabus is an insult to freedom fighters."
