Starting January 27, 2025, New Zealand has begun welcoming digital nomads, allowing visitors to work remotely for overseas employers while enjoying the country’s beautiful landscapes. According to reports, the updated visa conditions apply to all visitor visa applicants, including tourists, family visitors, and those on long-term partner or guardian visas.
Under these new rules, remote workers can stay in New Zealand for up to nine months, with a potential tax obligation after the first 90 days. However, visa holders must not work for a New Zealand employer, provide goods or services within the country, or take up roles that require a physical presence at a workplace.
