While 2023 was a fantastic year for K-Dramas wherein we received only hit shows, it's not wrong of K-Dramas lovers to anticipate more romances, murder mysteries, and fantasy action thrillers. While there will be a whole new world of fresh storylines and new dramas, there will also be some mind-blowing sequels that people have been waiting for.

Here is a list of 7 K-Dramas that are surely going to dominate this year.

'The Bequeathed'

Cast: Kim Hyun-joo, Park Hee-soon, Park Byung-eun, Ryu Kyung-soo 

Release Date: January 19

The series centers on Yoon Seo-ha, who inherits a family gravesite after her uncle's demise. The sudden, unexpected arrival of her half-brother, Young-ho, adds complexity to the already-complex situation. Matters take a darker turn with the appearance of police officers Seong-joon and Sang-min, who are investigating a string of mysterious murders that are happening in and around the graveyard. Amidst an atmosphere clouded with fear and blood, the story reveals many family secrets.

'Everything Will Come True'

Cast: Bae Suzy, Kim Woo-bin

Release Date: TBA

This series is somewhat inspired by 'Aladdin.' A spirit, Genie, emerges from a lamp, and is full of intense emotions and keeps fluctuating between his emotions. Ga-young, on the other hand, is devoid of emotions, and inadvertently summons the Genie and has been granted three wishes. What will those wishes be and how she makes use of Genie is what the drama will unfold. The casting of Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy has risen the anticipation for this show because it marks a thrilling reunion for fans of the drama 'Uncontrollably Fond' (2016), where they played romantic lead roles. Given their chemistry, fans believe it to be of the same intensity in this new drama. Speculations are that this series will release sometime in the second half of the year.

'Love Song For Illusion'

Cast: Park Ji-hoon, Hong Ye-ji, Hwang Hee, Ji Woo

Release Date: January 2

This story is a captivating love story involving a King with dual personalities and an assassin girl hell-bent on avenging her family. Yeon-wol takes on the role of an assassin, hiding her identity, with an aim to murder the Crown Prince Sa Jo-hyun. However, her mission goes off the rails when she falls into a trap uncalled for. Waking up the next day, she has no recollection of some of her past memories and is unexpectedly appointed as the Prince's mistress. Despite her initial goals, she enters his life under this disguise, but finds herself falling in love with him. 

'Queen of Tears'

Cast: Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Ji-won

Release Date: March 

Initially slated for a December 2023 release, the series was rescheduled to the first half of 2024 due to changes in tvN's Saturday–Sunday lineup. The series revolves around the love story of Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in, the legal director and the heiress of the conglomerate Queens Group, respectively. Their story encapsulates a journey of love, depicting their strong bond as they get through different challenges, promising to stay by each other's side at all costs.

'Sweet Home' 3

Cast: Song Kang, Go Min-si, Lee Jin-wook

Release Date: TBA

With the announcement of Season 2 came the news of the show being renewed for Season 3. The show is set to release in the Spring of 2024. After having the fight of their lives against mysterious creatures in the first two seasons, Cha Hyun-soo and the remaining survivors at the Green Home apartment face yet another threat to their safety and livelihood. The final season of the series will tell us whether or not they will be able to survive in a world dominated by monsters.

'Hierarchy'

Cast: Roh Jeong-eui, Lee Chae-min, Kim Jae-won, Ji Hye-won, Lee Won-jung

Release Date: TBA

Touching upon the themes of love, friendship, and revenge, this drama is about a transfer student who sets foot in a prestigious, secretive private school: Jooshin High School. Usually, only those children who are assigned this school at birth are allowed to study there. Some of those students are Jung Jae-yi, Kim Ri-an, Yoon He-ra, and Lee Woo-jin, who are all successors of powerful businesses or children of influencial politicians. Their secrets and the school start to fall apart when Kang Ha is transferred there. Little does anyone know that behind his innocent face, he holds a big secret.

'Doctor Slump'

Cast: Park Shin-hye, Park Hyung-sik, Yoon Park, Kong Seong-ha

Release Date: January 27

This romantic comedy is about the growing love between Yeo Jeong-woo and Nam Ha-neul. Both of them were the best at everything they did. However, after an unfortunate accident, Jeong-woo's life starts to crumble. In the process, he meets Ha-neul, who is looking for ways to get out of the work-study-work loop. The two, who used to be rivals in the past, meet each other at the lowest points of their lives. The show showcases the journey of the two finding comfort in each other, which eventually blossoms into a romantic relationship.
