At least four people, including a New York City police officer, were killed in a mass shooting at an office building in Midtown Manhattan on Monday evening. The suspect, believed to be acting alone, also died, bringing the total fatalities to five, WSJ reported.

The incident occurred inside the Park Avenue Tower, a 634-foot skyscraper located at 345 Park Avenue, which houses major corporate offices including those of the National Football League (NFL), Blackstone, and the Consulate General of Ireland. The building, which spans an entire city block and has its own ZIP code, was evacuated during the emergency response.

Emergency services were alerted around 6:30 p.m., with the New York Fire Department (FDNY) confirming it had dispatched crews to the scene following reports of gunfire. The New York Police Department later stated the threat had been neutralized and that the situation was under control.

While officials have not formally identified the shooter, CNN reported that the suspect has been tentatively identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura from Las Vegas. Law enforcement sources say he died of what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities have yet to confirm the gunman’s identity or reveal a possible motive for the shooting.

Video footage from local news outlets showed office workers evacuating the building with their hands raised, as NYPD officers secured the premises.

The FBI is also assisting in the investigation. In a statement on social media, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said bureau personnel were on-site to support the NYPD's efforts. "This remains an active crime scene. The motive is under investigation," he added.

Investigators are continuing to process the scene and interview witnesses. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
