The Western Ghats have long mastered the art of making people pause. Somewhere between the scent of coffee blossoms after rain, winding roads wrapped in mist and the deep green silence of old forests, Coorg has become the kind of destination travellers return to when city life begins to feel too loud. Now, The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts is stepping into this landscape with a new ultra-luxury retreat that leans fully into the idea of slow, restorative travel.
Set to open later this year, The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary marks the hospitality group’s entry into nature-led and wellness-focused luxury stays. Spread across 76 acres near Madikeri, the all-villa property currently features 71 villas surrounded by coffee and spice plantations, with plans already underway to expand the inventory to 90 villas in a phased development. The acquisition also arrives at a milestone moment for the brand as The Leela celebrates 40 years in Indian luxury hospitality.
