Tucked away on the fringes of Auroville in Tamil Nadu, Sanctuary Amaidiyana by CGH Earth is a newly opened five-star boutique wellness retreat that feels deliberately removed from the rush of the outside world.
Opened in December 2025, this 12-room retreat has been kept intentionally small and low-key, with buildings that sit gently within the landscape rather than standing apart from it. The focus is on working with what’s already there—shade, trees, open space—so nothing feels forced or overly designed.
Amaidiyana, which means “peace” in Tamil, fits the mood of the place well. Everything moves at a slower pace, from the way spaces are set up to how guests are encouraged to spend their time. Wellness is part of the everyday here, with Watsu therapy, Ayurveda, and simple local experiences forming the core of the stay.
