- The party has peaked in strongholds like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, MP and Karnataka. Tally in these states can only go down in the next general elections.
- Early polls are not welcome as they are likely to be held along with assembly elections in three BJP-ruled states- where anti-incumbency could be a factor.
- The numbers of the NDA allies have shrunk and only the JD(U) in Bihar is certain to improve tally; BJP peaked in Orissa in 2004; the Shiv Sena is in turmoil.
- Focus is on the price rise issue to help the party's revival in cities and small towns.
- Till now, no strong ideological postures by L.K. Advani as there is a need to attract more allies. There's even a buzz about giving outside support to some regional formation.
