

- The Indian government estimates 12,000 Indian nationals live in Lebanon. They are mostly unskilled or semi-skilled labourers in factories, farms and industrial units.
- Some Indians have lived here for more than two decades, even during the bloody 1980s
- There are 672 Indian soldiers who are UN peacekeepers in the war zone. Two have been injured.
- A travel advisory has been issued; contact established with people through associations, gurudwaras and temples
- First to be evacuated were families of Indian personnel in the embassy as also of those Indian nationals in and around Beirut who wanted to leave. They went to Syria by road.
- Four Indian navy ships are positioned off the Lebanese coast, amid heavy congestion. Requests received from Sri Lanka and Nepal to place their citizens aboard the ships.
- 1,383 Indian nationals have been evacuated by ship from Beirut to Larnaca in Cyprus. From Cyprus they were flown by Air India to various destinations in India.
- In addition, 47 Nepalis, 58 Sri Lankans and 8 Lebanese were also evacuated, making it a total of 1,496 evacuees
