Actress Ameesha Patel is currently on cloud nine as 'Gadar 2' has got so much love and performing well at the box office. Ameesha has reprised the role of Sakina in the film also starring Sunny Deol as Tara Singh. With 'Gadar 2', Ameesha has made a comeback in films. She became an overnight star with 'Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai' which also had Hrithik Roshan as lead. After that, she appeared in several movies out of which some were hits while some failed. 'Yeh Hai Jalwa' opposite Salman Khan was also one of the movies she did but it didn't do well at the box office. In an interview, Patel revealed that it was because of Salman's hit-and-run case in the same year, the movie didn't work.

She told Bollywood Hungama, “Yeh Hai Jalwa was one of David Dhawan's best films. Salman has never looked more handsome and the music and everything was good. But I think because earlier the media gave news the audiences were not so open about accepting some negative news about their favourite actors. Salman's accident had newly happened so Yeh Hai Jalwa got sidelined. Had the audience been open to it…that is one film that would have done really well.”

For the unversed, 'Yeh Hai Jalwa' was released in July 2002. Later, on 28 September 2002, Khan was arrested for allegedly running over five pavement dwellers who were sleeping on a pavement outside a bakery in Mumbai. One person even lost his life and others were injured. In 2015, Salman got five years of imprisonment by a trial court. However, later in the same year, the Bombay High Court ruled him not guilty.
