India won more than a dozen medals on day 9 (Saturday) at the Commonwealth Games 2022, and added 15 more, including a rare one-two in the men's triple jump, on the penultimate day (Sunday) in Birmingham. The women's hockey team also won their bronze medal play-off. On a day when PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen entered the singles finals, another Indian Kidambi Srikanth lost to Malaysian Tze Yong Ng 13 - 21, 21 - 19, 21 - 10. He will play Jia Heng Teh of Singapore in the bronze medal match. And NG Tze Yong will face India's Lakshya Sen in the final.
India's Annu Rani bagged a bronze medal for India in the women's javelin throw final with a best effort of 60m. Another Indian in the fray, Shilpa Rani finished a lowly seventh with a best effort of 54.62m.

PV Sindhu assured India atleast a silver for India in women's singles after beating Jia Min Yeo of Singapore 21-19, 21-17 in the semifinal. A former world champion, Sindhu, who has a silver and a bronze from the 2018 and 2014 editions, was clearly the better player on display as she kept a firm grip on the match.

While the men's hockey team will fight for gold on Monday, their women counterparts are already on the field at the moment against New Zealand in a fight for bronze. India are leading 1-0 at the end of half time, thanks to Salima Tete.
"If my training is going right, I feel fine mentally as well. Only I know what I have done to win this medal. It feels a lot more special considering what I have gone through over the past 12 months," said Vinesh who is now a three-time CWG gold medallist."
