Demonstrations were held in many parts of the world on Friday on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The day is observed every year on November 25 since 2008. The day marks the beginning of 16-day UNiTE campaign of the United Nations which concludes on the day that commemorates the International Human Rights Day (December 10). It aims to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls around the world.
