Another fun day of the Indian Premier League 2026 ends with a fifth consecutive successful chase as Delhi Capitals outplayed Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets.

Delhi continued their dominance over Lucknow with five back-to-back wins on the back of a 119-run stand between Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs. While chasing 142, DC were tottering at 26/4 at one stage, but Sameer Rizvi stitched an unbeaten 119-run stand with Tristan Stubbs to guide his team over the line with 17 balls intact.

Rizvi had a shaky start and was struggling to time the ball initially, but eventually got used to the conditions and scored an unbeaten 70 off 47 balls, including five fours and four sixes.

Rishabh Pant's Unfortunate Run Out

Rishabh Pant was under the spotlight before the season mainly because of an underwhelming last season and the price tag of being the most expensive player of IPL history.

Today, he opened alongside Mitchell Marsh for Lucknow Super Giants thus pushing Aiden Markram down at No.3. Pant started well with a beautiful on drive to Mukesh Kumar but shortly got run-out in one of the most unluckiest manners in cricket.

Mitchell Marsh played a straight shot off Mukesh Kumar, but the ball touched the bowler's fingers and ricocheted to the stumps, resulting in Pant getting run out for 7 off 9 balls.

Both teams lost their first matches in a comprehensive manner and will be under pressure to make a comeback and get the first points in the bank. They have short of bowling, which cost them dearly in their first match.

While KKR lost two of the key bowlers in the form of Harshit Rana and Akashdeep Singh, SRH will also be without the services of Pat Cummins for the first half of the tournament.

The match will be played on the same pitch on which the semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2026 was played between New Zealand and South Africa.

Rishabh Pant's promotion to the top order has received mixed reactions. On top of that, his failure and LSG's loss have put the decision under the scanner even more.

However, Pant gave the rationale behind the decision, that they wanted to try a left-right combination to counter the effect of Axar Patel in the power play.

However, Pant hasn't ruled out the probability of him opening in future matches and even said that he'll bat in the top order in the tournament. Speaking in the press conference, Pant said, "I think it’s a 50-50 call, but we’ll see. But you will definitely see me in the top order."

At one stage, Delhi Capitals were in a state of bother for 26/4, while chasing a tricky 142-run target, but youngster Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs carved a mesmerising stand of 119 not out to take Delhi home with 17 balls to spare.

Sameer Rizvi slammed an unbeaten 70 off 47 balls, while Stubbs remained not out at 39 off 32 balls, complementing his partner quite well. With this emphatic win, Delhi has now moved to the 3rd spot in the points table with a healthy NRR of 1.397, only behind RCB and MI.
