Ramayana First Look: The first look of Ramayana was unveiled today (April 2), on the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The Nitesh Tiwari directorial is the adaptation of Indian epic, the Ramayana, The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, alongside Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey are also part of the cast.
Glimpse of Rama from Ramayana
Producer Namit Malhotra sharing the glimpse on Instagram wrote, "Rama is the greatest of all time because he lived a life where the choices he made were always in the benefit of the greater good, duty over desire, and sacrifice over self."
"His legacy continues to enhance and empower humanity over time and bring the belief in the goodness of the human spirit to resolve all conflict and bring peace to the world," he added.
The teaser shows Lord Rama as the protector and the legend who is “always the answer”. It also says that he has been “ruling our hearts for 5000 years”.
The first glimpse titled 'Rama' shows Ranbir Kapoor embodying the divine grace and emotional depth as Lord Rama. It shows scenes from Ayodhya and the exile. The VFX is top-notch in creating the ancient world, which we have rarely witnessed in Indian cinema. Music by Rahman and background score by Hans Zimmer which blends Indian spiritual elements with cinematic style is intense and gives goosebumps.
What Ranbir Kapoor said about being part of Ramayana
Ranbir described Lord Rama as “conscience keeper of billions of people around the globe for centuries”, adding, “He enlightens us about the triumph of human spirit. He stands for compassion, for courage, for righteousness and forgiveness, and is called Maryada Purushottam, which stands for an ideal man.”
The actor also revealed that he was offered the role about four years ago and was hesitant to accept it. “I remember when Namit offered me this part around four years back, my instant reaction was: ‘I am not fit enough, good enough.’ I felt I wouldn’t be able to do full justice. But that fear quickly turned into gratitude because opportunities like this were something I truly needed in my life,” he said.
Ramayana cast
The epic saga will also have Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Arun Govil as King Dasharatha, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Kunal Kapoor as Indra among others.
Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with the eight-time Oscar-winning DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana will have a massive release in India and internationally, targeting the global audience. It is a two-part epic with an IMAX release. The first instalment will hit the theatres during Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in 2027.
