On August 25, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) introduced its first fare hike in eight years, hinting at a significant shift in the pricing of the city’s massive public transport system. The hike, ranging from INR 1 to INR 4 depending on the length of the travel, seeks to cover the rising operational costs and ensure the continued efficiency and sustainability of one of the most reputed metro networks in the world. The adjustment affects all the running standard lines with the exception of the Airport Express Line which has singularly seen a hike of up to INR 5.
