Air India Unveils Flagship Maharaja Lounge At Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3

In its latest developments, Air India has unveiled its first flagship Maharaja Lounge at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, marking a key step in the airline's ongoing transformation. Spread across 16,000 square feet of ample space, the longue is nested at the international pier and is designed to host around 300 guests across Business and First Class sections.The longue is slated to open to public on February 16, 2026, though only for eligible travellers entailing those flying in Business and First Class, Gold and Platinum Maharaja Club members in addition to qualifying Star Alliance passengers. Air India sees the facility as a flagship space that brings together heritage-inspired elements with contemporary designed, all aligned with the airline's refreshed brand identity.Design, Zones And Signature SpacesConceptualised by global design studio Hirsch Bender Associates, the Maharaja Lounge sports interiors that feature refined furnishings, ambient lighting and artworks reflecting India's cultural heritage.Divided into distinct zones that cater to various needs, the space includes quiet area for work and relaxation as well as more socially inclined spaces. The key highlights come in the shape of the Aviator's Bar, designed with a speakeasy-style aura and inspired by JRD Tata's historical 1932 flight, as well as the Globetrotter's Study, a reading and work zone full of books, power outlets and high-speed connectivity.In addition, a dedicated Serenity Area offers in-transit passengers with the much needed rest, while the First Class section features the Crystal Bar, tarmac-view seating and exclusive sleep suites for pre-flight relaxation.Dining, Tea Programme And Guest ExperienceDining at the new lounge is elaborate with Indian and international dishes along with live cooking stations. Air India has also introduced what it calls a "Beverage on Wheels" service set to bring cocktails to guests looking to wet the whistle at their seats, along with tea programme showcasing freshly brewed Indian teas presented with snacks.Within the whole experience, guests will also retain the luxury to indulge in souvenir-shopping and the specially designed Maharaja postcard which are part of the airline's effort to create a more engaging pre-flight experience.Air India's CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson said the new lounge represents a significant milestone in the airline's transformation and is intended to set a new benchmark in aviation hospitality.Part Of A Wider Network Of New LoungesThe new Delhi facility is only the first in a series of modern lounges Air India expects to come up with across India and international destinations.
