Rs 3,100 Crore from the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund will be allocated for fight against COVID-19, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement on Wednesday.
Out of Rs 3100 core, nearly Rs 2000 cr has been earmarked for purchasing ventilators, and Rs 1000 crore for care of migrant labourers, it said.
Another Rs 100 crore will be given to support coronavirus vaccine development, the statement said.
The trust formed on March 27 is headed by the prime minister. The other ex-officio members of the trust are the defence minister, the home minister and the finance minister.
