Along with the six Northeast states—Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim—Uttarakhand and the Union territory of Puducherry will also debut in the Ranji Trophy, which starts on November 1.
The BCCI, which has resented coming under the RTI Act claiming to be an autonomous entity, will need to put in place, within 15 days, online and offline mechanisms to receive applications for information under the RTI Act.
The BCCI is a private consortium of various cricket associations – representing states, historically defined regions and institutions. It was formed in December 1928 as a society, registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act.
The PCB's contention has been that Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2014 by erstwhile BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel is binding. The MoU stated that the two neighbours were supposed to play six series in eight years between 2015-2023.
