RJD strongman Laloo Prasad Yadav dreamt Patna’s Ganga ghats were overflowing. Consequently, the RJD government sanctioned Rs 80 lakh to shift the river back to its original course, the one it ran on before 1990. According to Laloo, this will not only make cremation easier, it’ll make the ghats more accessible during the Chhath festival. While BJP leader Sushil Modi says Laloo’s newfound love for Ganga is "soft Hindutva", many feel Patna is pre-empting New Delhi’s Rs 28.71-crore Ganga Action Plan.
