Actor-producer Jamie Lee Curtis has confirmed the reboot of the popular 1984 American television series Murder, She Wrote. Curtis will star as the lead in the upcoming project, which is in the works at Universal.
In a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Curtis said, "Oh, it’s… happening. We’re a minute away, but yeah, (I’m) very excited. Very excited". adding, "But I’m tamping down my enthusiasm until we start shooting. I have a couple of other things to hustle, but then I’ll get to enjoy that work."
Reportedly, the script is penned by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, with Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Amy Pascal serving as the producers.
Murder, She Wrote, which ran from 1984 to 1996, with 12 seasons, became one of the most successful and longest-running shows on television. Set in the seaside town of Cabot Cove, Maine, it revolved around Jessica Fletcher, the retired school teacher turned celebrated mystery writer, who solved murder cases with her intellect.
Lansbury bagged four Golden Globes and multiple Emmy nominations for her performance as Fletcher.
Coming back to Curtis, the 66-year-old is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming film, Freakier Friday, in which she is reuniting with Lindsay Lohan. It will hit theaters on August 8.
At the Las Culturistas Culture Awards, Curtis spoke about working with Lohan. She told Variety, "She has taught me so much. She has her team, where her two people would be standing on either side of a camera holding a big light."
"It’s Lindsay lighting — that would have been good branding — they hold lights so that we look better. So, I’ve learned a lot from her already. We had a good time. We love each other," she added.
