The first batch of 58 pilgrims who had been stuck in Iran, one of the worst coronavirus-affected nation, arrived at the Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad on Tuesday morning.

About 2,000 Indians are living in Iran, where 7,000 people have tested positive for the contagious disease with flu-like symptoms and 237 people killed.

Meanwhile, the global death toll from the new coronavirus passed 4,000 on Tuesday, as China reported 17 new deaths.

The toll reached 4,011 in the outbreak that has spread to over 100 countries with more than 1,10,000 cases of infection.

India reported six fresh cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, increasing the national toll to 45 as the deadly virus continues to intensify across the globe rattling governments and investors.

Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu reported one case each, officials said.

The ministry in a statement also clarified that the patient from Murshidabad, West Bengal, who died on Sunday had tested negative for the infection and "hence so far no death has been reported due to the disease in the country".

1:17PM: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has hit triple digits in Australia. The Australian Department of Health revealed that as of March 10 morning, there have been 100 confirmed cases in the country.
