Jannik Sinner has reappointed Umberto Ferrara as his fitness coach.
Sinner parted ways with Ferrara in August 2024, five months after the world number one returned two positive tests for the banned substance Clostebol.
Marco Panichi replaced Ferrara as the 23-year-old’s fitness coach but was moved on from his role last month, ahead of Wimbledon.
Ferrara said he gave a spray containing Clostebol to Sinner's then-physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi, who was also let go by the Italian, for personal use only.
However, Naldi used it to treat a cut on Sinner’s hand, which was cited as the reason for the positive tests.
Sinner accepted a three-month ban from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) earlier this year.
He has won his first Wimbledon title and reached the final of the French Open, losing to Carlos Alcaraz in five sets, since returning to action in May.
A statement from Sinner’s team said: “Umberto has played an important role in Jannik's development to date, and his return reflects a renewed focus on continuity and performance at the highest level.
“The decision has been made in alignment with Jannik's management team as part of ongoing preparations for upcoming tournaments, including the Cincinnati Open and US Open.”
