Robert MacIntyre feels he "can't be far away" from securing an automatic spot in the European Ryder Cup team after a strong performance at The Open Championship.
The Scot finished tied-seventh on 10-under at the Royal Portrush after rounds of 71, 66, 70, and 67, but was still seven shots behind winner Scottie Scheffler.
MacIntyre finished his final round with four birdies in his last seven holes after what was a "difficult" start to Sunday.
The six top-ranked players following the British Masters on August 24 will automatically qualify for Team Europe at the Ryder Cup.
The 28-year-old came second at the U.S. Open last month and believes his strong finish at The Open puts him in a great position for Ryder Cup selection.
"It was difficult, it was like Saturday," MacIntyre said. "Playing well, making a rash mistake, not holing any putts, feeling as though I'm hitting lots of lovely putts and nothing's going in. And then getting angry on myself, but I just had to wait my turn, wait my run.
"And then I hold a couple of nice ones coming in, obviously a nice chip in on 14, a hole that's had my number all week.
"It's always good to finish strongly, especially with the par on 18, such a strong finishing hole.
"My job is to qualify automatically so that Luke Donald can do what he wants with the picks. I feel like the last two majors I've put a massive dent in that.
"Again, for me, it's just keep going, play golf, do what you do. Good golf takes care of the Ryder Cup. I can't be far away now.
"There's going to be another three or four tournaments I'm going to play from now until the finish. If I do my job well, I should be in that team."
