England's players held a practice session at Lord's Cricket Ground on the eve of the third Test match, which is set to begin on Thursday at the "Mecca of Cricket." The England cricket board (ECB) announced on Wednesday that Jofra Archer has been named in the team to face India in this match, marking his return to Test cricket after more than four years. Archer will replace fellow fast bowler Josh Tongue, who is the only player changed for the third Test. Tongue managed to take only four wickets and conceded more than 200 runs across two innings. Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum believe that the "subcontinent-style" pitch prepared at Edgbaston, along with Stokes’ mistake in choosing to bowl first at the toss, played into India's hands. They will look to better exploit their home advantage in the upcoming Test. Additionally, they are considering alterations to their fast-bowling lineup after a demanding week in the field.

Aryna Sabalenka trailed by a set, then twice was down a break in the third before grabbing the last three games to reach the Wimbledon women's singles semi-finals by overcoming 104th-ranked Laura Siegemund 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 at Centre Court on Tuesday (July 8, 2025). Sabalenka, No. 1 since last October, never has been to a title match at the All England Club, the only Grand Slam tournament where that’s the case. She won the Australian Open twice and the U.S. Open once, and was the runner-up at this year’s Australian Open (losing to Madison Keys) and French Open (losing to Coco Gauff). The 27-year-old Belarusian lost in the semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2021 and 2023. On Thursday, she gets a third chance in that round. Sabalenka will meet No. 13 seed Amanda Anisimova.
