World No. 1 Jannik Sinner began his Wimbledon preparations with a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 victory over Cam Norrie in a Pre-Wimbledon Exhibition Match at the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic. The Italian, who is aiming to defend his Wimbledon title, looked sharp on grass despite sweltering conditions in southern England and avoided the struggles he faced during his French Open exit, where heat and dizziness played a role in his shock defeat. Sinner managed the extreme temperatures well, using a cooling vest during practice but not requiring ice packs during the match, as he completed a confident warm-up ahead of the grass-court Grand Slam.

AJ Dybantsa is on his way to Washington and ready to start working as soon as he gets there. That’s not until Wednesday. Tuesday was a night for the NBA’s No. 1 draft pick to party. “Obviously this night is just a celebration of all the hard work I’ve done in the past, and so now I’m going to celebrate,” Dybantsa said. So were a record number of one-and-done college stars who followed him, a trio of national champions from Michigan and fans of both New York teams on what sounded like an even more festive NBA draft than usual. The Wizards started it by selecting Dybantsa, a forward who led the nation in scoring in his one season at BYU. He averaged 25.5 points, highlighted by a 43-point effort that broke BYU’s freshman scoring record, and was the first of a record-tying eight straight college freshman taken to begin the draft.

Colombia secured their place in the World Cup Round of 32 with a game to spare after a 1-0 win over DR Congo in Group K, decided by a deflected Daniel Muñoz strike. The South Americans controlled possession and created the better chances throughout, but were repeatedly denied by an outstanding Lionel Mpasi, who produced a string of key saves to keep DR Congo in the contest. DR Congo stayed compact in a disciplined low block and limited clear openings for long spells, but eventually cracked when Munoz’s effort took a decisive deflection off Steve Kapuadi and beat Mpasi. The victory takes Colombia to six points from two matches, confirming their progression ahead of their final group game, while DR Congo now need a win against Uzbekistan to stay in contention.
