India trounced Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs to register their biggest innings win in history in the one-off test at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh. Starting the day 3 at 113/5, Afghanistan were bundled for a paltry 152 courtesy of a six-wicket haul by debutant Manav Suthar. The Afghan Atalans were then forced to follow on by the hosts and were looking fine at one stage with 70/1. But when it looked like they were crawling back in the match with a small partnership, they ended up losing wickets in clusters to hand control of the match back to India. The Afghan Atalans went from 70/1 to 98/5 and then eventually got wrapped up at 112. Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav took four and three wickets each to wrap up things for India inside the third day of the match

Colombia rounded off their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Jordan at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. Jhon Arias was the star of the show, scoring both goals to guide Los Cafeteros to a confident win. The Fluminense winger opened the scoring in the 44th minute after being set up by James Rodríguez before doubling Colombia’s advantage in the 56th minute with a header from Santiago Arias’ cross. Colombia controlled possession for long spells and created the better chances throughout the contest, while Jordan struggled to trouble Camilo Vargas consistently. The visitors’ frustrations grew late in the match, culminating in a red card as Colombia comfortably saw out the result and headed into the World Cup on a positive note.

In a high-quality pre-World Cup friendly at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey, Martin Odegaard's second-half strike cancelled out an early Brahim Diaz goal as Norway drew 1-1 with Morocco in each team's final game before the World Cup. Morocco were quick out of the blocks as Brahim Diaz grabbed an early goal to put the Atlas Lions in front, and Norway, despite the presence of Erling Haaland, struggled to make an impact in the first half. The Scandinavians, however, grew into the game and Ødegaard levelled in the 75th minute to rescue a point for his side. Morocco had the better of the chances, registering 12 shot attempts and five on target to Norway's eight and two, though Norway edged possession at 52.4%. Morocco arrive at the tournament having won four of their last five, while Norway head into their first World Cup since 1998 off the back of a 3-1 win over Sweden.

Manav Suthar had a dream debut for India in whites as he scalped a six-wicket haul against Afghanistan in the second innings of the match. The 23-year-old left-arm spinner kept the Afghan batters on tenterhooks throughout their first innings and ended it with figures of 6/33. It is the third-best figures in a Test debut for India by any bowler after Narendra Hirwani, who picked eight wickets in each innings on his debut against West Indies back in 1988. Suthar, along with Prasidh Krishna, wrapped up Afghanistan's first innings for just 152 after India piled on a massive 564/6, securing a gigantic 412-run lead for the hosts. India have decided to enforce the follow-on in a quest to finish the match as quickly as possible, while the Afghan Atalans have a massive task at hand, even if they want to draw the match, let alone win it.

England started their new era of Bazball with a staggering 115-run win over New Zealand at Lord's. This was the first assignment of the McCullum-Stokes pair after the Ashes debacle, which almost cost McCullum his place, but the ECB showed trust in him to continue, which makes this win even more relieving for the hosts. After being bowled out for just 140 in the first innings, the hosts made an amazing comeback to bundle Kiwis for just 113, with Ollie Robinson leading the charge with a five-wicket haul. Emilio Gay smacked a debut fifty for the Three Lions in their second innings to help them set a stiff 254-run target for the visitors on a treacherous pitch. Gus Atkinson took a fifer in the second innings to dismantle New Zealand for just 138 and take England 1-0 up in the three-match series.

Iran defender Ehsan Hajsafi criticized soccer’s governing body after the team arrived in Mexico on Sunday with some members of their entourage still lacking U.S. visas, before three World Cup group matches in the United States later this month. The team’s participation in the World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, has been complicated by the Iran war. Problems with processing visas earlier led Iran to move its training base from Tucson, Arizona, to Tijuana, Mexico, which is on the border with California.

Christian Eriksen was conscious and undergoing further tests in the hospital after collapsing on the field again while playing for Denmark’s national team on Sunday in a scary scene that had echoes of his cardiac arrest at the European Championship five years ago. TV footage showed the 34-year-old midfielder clutching his chest with both hands in an off-the-ball action in the 65th minute of Denmark’s international friendly against Ukraine at Nature Energy Park in Odense, Denmark. In the next TV image shown, Erikson was lying on his back on the ground, surrounded by worried-looking players. Ukraine’s coaching staff were seen waving medical personnel onto the field.
