Shah Rukh Khan's comeback film 'Pathaan', which also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, remains unbeatable at the box office. The film has already made a whopping Rs 542 crore gross worldwide in just five days since its release on January 25. Now after its success, renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has showered heaps of praises on SRK and called him an actor with ‘the strongest spine’.
In an interview with Mid-Day, Kashyap talked about how Khan maintained a silence despite the turbulence in his personal and professional life, and even went on to call the response to Pathaan ‘euphoric’.
“People are coming back to the cinema and people are coming back and dancing on screen. People are euphoric about the movie. There is euphoria and this euphoria is beautiful. This euphoria was missing. This euphoria is also a socio-political euphoria, it is like making a statement,” Kashyap said.
He added, “The man with the strongest spine, the most resilience and integrity who has kept quiet through everything, he has spoken. He has spoken onscreen with his work. It is beautiful. He spoke loudly on screen. I understand what he teaches, ‘Speak with your work, and don’t talk unnecessarily’. He is who he is and you can see why.”
Meanwhile, Kashyap had already spoken how SRK’s victory felt personal to him. “It empowers everyone. I might not make a movie like Pathaan. But I want Pathaan to work. Shah Rukh’s success is important to me. We exist because of the big films,” he had told Brut.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, the action-thriller marked SRK’s return to the big screen after four years. ‘Pathaan’ is the fastest Hindi film to enter the Rs 250 crore club in just five days.
