Addressing media ahead of the commencement of the Budget Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked Members of Parliament "who have a habit of being involved in ruckus" to "introspect."

"Those who have a habit of being involved in ruckus and degrading the Constitutional values, all those honourable MPs must introspect in this last session [of this term]," PM Modi said.

A total of 146 opposition MPs, including 100 of the Lok Sabha, were suspended for bringing placards into the chambers and frequently disrupting parliamentary proceedings in the last Winter Session. Of the 146 MPs, the transgressions by 14 were considered more serious.

These 14 opposition MPs -- 11 of the Rajya Sabha and three of the Lok Sabha -- were reinstated on Wednesday, January 30.

PM Modi also spoke about women power and said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's Budget presentation tomorrow in a way "is a festival of the Nari Shakti."

"Today, when the budget session begins, President Drouapdi Murmu's guidance and tomorrow Nirmala Sitharaman when presents the interim budget - in a way this is a festival of the Nari Shakti," PM Modi said.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Interim Union Budget on February 1, 2024. The full Budget will be presented after the Lok Sabha elections this year.

"We are going to follow the tradition of presenting a full budget after the new government is formed," PM Modi said at the beginning of the interim Budget session of Parliament on Wednesday.

PM Narendra Modi also said that this time Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget with 'disha-nirdeshak baatein [guiding words]'. "I am of the firm belief that the country is going ahead by crossing new heights of progress every day. All-round and inclusive development is taking place. This journey will continue with the blessings of people...," PM Modi said
