1800 Special Guests Including Farmers, Nurses And Fishermen, Invited To Celebrate The 77th Independence Day

Around 1800 special guests, comprising of fishermen, nurses and farmers alongside 75 couples in traditional attires will be present at Red Fort, Delhi, as part of the 77th Independence Day Celebrations.

As the 77th Independence Day nears, the Red Fort is all decked to host the celebrations on Tuesday. Led by the Prime Minister, the celebration will also house around 1800 people from different vocations, along with their spouses, as special guests. 

Over 400 sarpanches of more than 660 villages, 250 participants  from Farmer Producer Organisations’ scheme, 50 participants from Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, 50 construction workers contributing to the Central Vista Project, including the New Parliament Building and 50 Khadi workers involved in the construction of border roads and making of Amrit Sarovar and Her Ghar Jal Yojana as well as 50 primary school teachers, nurses and fishermen, form the guest list.

A visit to the National War Memorial and the Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt has also been integrated as a part of their stay in Delhi. The Ministry of Defence stated that the initiative undertaken should be viewed in line with the Government’s vision of Jan Bhagidari. 

Around 75 couples from each state/Union Territory have also been invited to witness the ceremony at Red Fort. The couples will be seen donning their traditional attires. PM Modi will eventually unfurl the national flag and deliver the customary address to the country.

Selfie points dedicated to different schemes and initiatives, including Global Hope: Vaccine and Yoga; Ujjwala Yojana; Space Power; Digital India; Skill India; Start-up India; Swachh Bharat; Sashakt Bharat, Naya Bharat; Powering India; Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Jal Jeevan Mission, have been installed at 12 different locations.

The locations include  National War Memorial, India Gate, Vijay Chowk, New Delhi Railway Station, Pragati Maidan, Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid Metro Station, Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, Delhi Gate Metro Station, ITO Metro Gate, Naubat Khana and Sheesh Ganj Gurdwara.

An online selfie contest is also planned to be conducted on the MyGov portal by the Ministry of Defence, from August 15 to 20. People will be encouraged to take part in the contest by clicking selfies at one or more of the 12 installations and uploading them on the MyGov platform. 

The twelve winners selected on the basis of the online selfie contest, would be given a prize money of Rs 10,000 each.
