Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan’ is raking in moolah at the box office. The film collected Rs 36.85 crore on Sunday, and then minted Rs 16 crore on Monday, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk.

The Atlee directorial, which stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, also features Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, Aaliyah Qureshi, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover, Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt, in key roles. Now adding to the excitement, the film has so far collected Rs 493.63 crore in India, thereby inching closer to the Rs 500 crore mark. ‘Jawan’ also witnessed an overall 23.92 percent Hindi occupancy on Monday.

It would not be wrong to say that the film has been on a record-breaking spree, and it has outdone the success of SRK’s own film ‘Pathaan’, which was released earlier this year in January. The Siddharth Anand directorial, which was a massive box office hit, made Rs 1,055 crore worldwide and Rs 543.09 crore in India. Apart from SRK, it also featured Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in pivotal roles.

As for its worldwide collections, ‘Jawan’ is performing superbly well and has collected over Rs 860 crore so far. It is now the fastest Bollywood film to reach this milestone. Previously, ‘Pathaan’ held the record after it raked in $130 million of global earnings. Not just that, the film also became the second-highest-grossing Hindi film worldwide after Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’, which minted around $250 million. Now if ‘Jawan’ manages to beat the records of ‘Pathaan’ at the global box office, Shah Rukh Khan would become the only Indian actor to have two films grossing over $100 million in one year.

Meanwhile, director Atlee recently hinted at the possibility of Jawan making it to the Oscars. In an interview with Etimes, he expressed that he wants to take Jawan to the Oscars if everything falls into place, and discussed how filmmakers wish to get recognition at prestigious ceremonies like the Oscars.
