Kudermetova, 21, defeated American Ashlyn Krueger 7-6 (5), 6-3 to enter her first WTA 500 semi-final. Her elder sister former top-ten singles player Veronika had suffered a first-round exit in the tournament.
Kalinina, meanwhile, saved a match point to beat Aussie wildcard Kimberly Birrell in their quarter-final match. The 27-year-old from Nova Kakhovka won the match 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 after trailing 4-5 in the final set.
Saturday's Brisbane semi-final will be the first-ever meeting between the two players.
In the first semi-final, world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will take on Russian teen sensation Mirra Andreeva.
