Australia completed their recovery to win the second Test against West Indies by 133 runs with a day to spare, clinching the series in the process. The Aussies dismissed the hosts for 143 in 34.3 overs on day four to take an insurmountable 2-0 lead in the three-Test series. On Saturday, half-centuries by Steve Smith and Cameron Green had helped to put Australia back in charge after the visitors lost early wickets in their second innings. Resuming Sunday (July 6, 2025) on 221-7 — and a lead of 254 runs — Australia struggled and were all out for 243, setting West Indies a winning target of 277. Shamar Joseph took 4-66. At 33-4, West Indies’ chase was in trouble. Pacer Mitchell Starc finished with 3-24. The third Test starts July 13 in Kingston.

Mexico successfully defended their Concacaf Gold Cup title, claiming the championship for a record 10th time on Sunday evening with a thrilling 2-1 victory over the United States at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The U.S. took an early lead in the fourth minute when former FC Dallas centre-back Chris Richards headed a free kick from Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Sebastian Berhalter off the crossbar, and it bounced just over the goal line. After applying sustained pressure, Mexico equalised in the 27th minute when striker Raúl Jiménez scored with a powerful first-time shot past New York City FC goalkeeper Matt Freese. Jiménez dedicated his goal to former club teammate Diogo Jota, the Portuguese forward who tragically passed away on Thursday morning.

Lando Norris finally lived out his childhood dream by winning his home race, a dramatic, rain-soaked British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Starting third, Norris overtook the pole sitter Max Verstappen and took advantage of teammate Oscar Piastri’s 10-second penalty to snatch victory -- McLaren’s first home win since 2008. Piastri finished second but was denied a team-ordered swap. Nico Hulkenberg grabbed a sensational third from 19th. It marked his first ever Formula 1 career's podium that came in 239 appearances. With this win Norris trims Piastri’s lead to 8 points in the drivers standings at the season’s halfway mark. Lewis Hamilton finished fourth.
