ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings 2023: Ravi Bishnoi Jumps To Top Spot In Bowling, Suryakumar Yadav Firmly On Top Of Batters' List

In a glorious ascent, India leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi has claimed the top spot in the ICC Men's T20 International bowler rankings, dethroning Afghanistan's Rashid Khan. Bishnoi's outstanding performances have propelled him to the pinnacle with a rating of 699, surpassing Rashid Khan's 692. (Cricket News)

As the game of cricket evolves amid decreasing attention spans and altering consumer interests, the popularity of the T20 format continues to rise. The International Cricket Council's T20I Player Rankings are a sound metric to evaluate the standing of international cricketers across nationalities in the shortest format of the game. The players' performances are ranked using a points-based system which involves several calculations that lead up to a sophisticated moving average.

Players are rated on a scale of 0 to 1000 points. If a player’s performance is an improvement on their record, the points increase, and similarly if the performance declines then the points go down. 

The value of each player’s performance in a match is calculated through an algorithm, involving a pre-programmed series of calculations based on numerous circumstances in the match. There is no human intervention in this calculation process, and no subjective assessment is made.

Suryakumar Yadav continues to reign supreme among the batters, and with his outrageously inventive strokeplay, has built up a sizeable lead at the top of the table with 855 points. Pakistan wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan is second with 787 points, and India opener Ruturaj Gaikwad is seventh with 688 points.

Despite his injury, Hardik Pandya is in third place among the all-rounders with 204 points. Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan leads the pack with 272 points and veteran Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi is second with 210 points.
