MoU With HLC Green Energy LLC For Green Hydrogen And Green Ammonia Project

In his maiden budget speech Hon'ble Chief Minister, Sh. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, shared his vision of making Himachal Pradesh as the ‘First Green State’ by 2025 in the country and laid emphasis on the Green Energy in the State. Further, to make Himachal Pradesh a leading green hydrogen-based economy, Hon'ble Chief Minister announced to formulate first of its kind ‘Green Hydrogen Policy’. Green hydrogen has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly, potential of reducing fertiliser prices and contribute nation’s economy through import substitution. The Department of Industries has initiated interactions with potential investors in this sector and received investment intent, as the State has a clear-cut advantage on account of abundant green hydel energy in the State and abundance of water resources.

Himachal Pradesh already famous for Green Hydel energy, will now encourage new clean energy projects such as ethanol, green hydrogen, green ammonia, solar, etc., making it an ideal State for becoming the clean energy hub of the country.

Today, after detailed discussion and deliberation in the presence of Hon’ble Industries Minister Sh. Harshwardhan Chauhan, Managing Director, M/s HLC Green Energy LLC, Sh. Sanjay Sharma signed an MoU with the State Government through Sh. Rakesh Kumar Prajapati, Director of Industries, Shri R. D. Nazeem, Principal Secretary (Industries), Sh. Vinay Singh, Director Ayurveda, Sh. A. C. Chaman, Managing Director Food and Civil Supplies and Sh. Tilak Raj Sharma, Additional Director, Industries, H.P. were also present.
The Director of Industries informed that the company intends to produce 0.3 million metric tonnes (MMT) of Green Hydrogen and 1.5 million metric tonnes (MMT) of Green Ammonia per year respectively. The land requirement for this project is around
20-25 acres and likely to be setup in Una and Kangra due to water and logistics suitability. He further shared that the upcoming unit will require approximately 300 MW of power and 50,000 KL of water facility respectively. This manufacturing facility has planned to bring in an investment of more than INR 4,000 crore, which would be able to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for more than 1000 and 2500 persons, respectively. This would help create skilled labour for the nearby villages and strengthen the economy of the State. Also, he informed that reputed company in this sector i.e. green hydrogen plans to setup its project in district Una.
Hon’ble Industries Minister assured full cooperation and support to the company in setting up the project in the State and advised the promoters to submit detailed project report indicating all key project parameters to the Government immediately. He further shared that all round efforts through policy advocacy would be made to translate Hon’ble Chief Minister’s vision of making Himachal Pradesh, Green State of the country and directed the department officials to extend handholding services to the investor.
