The National Institute for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (ni-msme), Govt. of India, Hyderabad and ASBM University, Bhubaneswar, in a collaborative effort, have developed a unique MBA in MSME Management which will kick-start from the academic session 2023. This is first of its kind with a judicious blend of hands-on experience and exposure of MSME functioning.
This is in line with National Education Policy, 2020 and it will be delivered by the apex institution NiMSME and the well-known ASBM University, acknowledged for its management expertise and has been ranked A+++ by Business India in the league of IIM, Tiruchirapalli. Any graduate with 50% of marks with a valid CAT/ XAT/ MAT/ ASBMU Entrance Test score can apply for admission to this programme.

The selected students will be provided education loan under the Star Vidya National Scheme by Bank of India for which the Bank has already recognised ASBM University.
The micro, small, and medium enterprises currently employ around 50 million people and account for about 8% of the country’s GDP, 45% of the manufacturing production, and 40% of the exports. The sector is growing by leaps and bounds and will play a prominent role in the development of the economy in the days to come. Such enterprises will have a huge requirement of management personnel to run these organizations. This new programme has been specially designed to meet that need by making trained human resources readily available to effectively manage the MSMEs. It also intends to promote entrepreneurship among the youth and create entrepreneurs.

The National Institute for MSME (ni-msme), an organization of the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India, was established way back in 1962. It engages in training, research and consultancy related to the micro, small and medium enterprises. The Institute has developed itself as a centre of excellence and has earned distinction in entrepreneurship promotion with international recognition by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
ASBM University was originally established as an autonomous institution in 2006 as Asian School of Business Management to offer management programmes along with training, consultancy and MDP. It has earned the distinction for its MBA programmes and has been awarded global accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), USA for excellence in academic delivery. Impressed by its performance and its quality parameters, the Government of Odisha converted it into a full-fledged university in 2019. ASBM University has a track record of 100% placement of its students from the beginning. Companies like Coca-Cola, Deloitte, Godrej, ITC, TCS, ICICI Bank, pandana, Reliance, Bharat Financials, PhonePe, DeCathalon, Tech Mahindra, Aditya Birla Group, Haldirams etc. regularly participate in the campus placement drive to pick up the students.
The students of this residential MBA-MSME programme will study their first-year courses (2 semesters) at ASBM University in Bhubaneswar and the second year (2 more semesters) at ni-msme in Hyderabad. This will help them master professional competency through expert classroom exposure and professional hands-on experience. On successful completion of the programme, the students will be awarded MBA degree by ASBM University.
