CPI national general secretary D Raja on Sunday said there is an urgent need for all secular and democratic parties to come together to oust the BJP-led Centre, alleging it was anti-people, anti-poor, and implementing the RSS ideology.

On appointment of former BJP Lok Sabha member from Coimbatore, C P Radhakrishan as Governor of Jharkhand, he said such appointments have now become political, so that the Governors can become representatives of the party and the Centre.

Raja was referring to BJP leaders L Ganesan, Tamilisai Soundararajan and Bhagat Singh Koshyari, who were earlier appointed as Governors to various States.

The Centre today appointed six new faces as Governors, including retired Supreme Court judge S Abdul Nazeer, who was part of the historic 2019 Ayodhya verdict, and four BJP leaders, besides carrying out a rejig of the gubernatorial posts in seven States.

Speaking to reporters here, the CPI leader said the BJP-RSS with its theory of one-nation one election, wanted to snatch away the rights of States by deviating from the Constitution, democratic and secular fabric and to install one party rule in the country.

The recent Union budget presented by BJP was anti-poor and affected the MSMEs, as the allocation of funds were reduced, particularly for MGNREGA, hitting the poor. This clearly indicated that only corporate houses and the rich have a future under the present rule, he claimed.

"Considering these aspects, all secular and democratic parties should come together to remove the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections," the CPI leader said.

When pointed out that leaders of different parties have political ambitions at national level, and how CPI would bring all together, Raja said politics differed from State to State and efforts will be taken to bring them on one platform.

For example, the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi culminated in Jammu and Kashmir recently, he said. Many leaders from various political parties were present on the last day of the foot march and only a few were unable to attend due to preoccupation, he added.

On the raging Adani issue, the CPI wanted to form a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) so that the truth will come out, he said.
