A family tragedy unfolded in a rented residence in this locality as four members were discovered lifeless on a somber Sunday afternoon in Chamundipuram, authorities have confirmed. Police have initiated an inquiry into the incident, leaning towards the possibility of a suicide.

The victims were identified as Mahadevaswamy, aged 45, his spouse Anita, aged 38, along with their daughters Chandrakala, 17, and Dhanalakshmi, 15. Their residence, situated in Chamundipuram, served as the backdrop to this unfortunate occurrence. Mahadevaswamy, who managed a vegetable shop in the nearby area of Bandipalya, was the head of the household, PTI reported.

Law enforcement officials entered the residence through an alternate entry point, given that the front door was secured from within. Their discovery inside was a chilling tableau - one member was found suspended, presumably the elder daughter, while the others were positioned lifeless on the floor. The deaths may have occurred 48 hours ago, as detailed by a police spokesperson.

Adding to the context, the residential structure in question consisted of two separate units, with the building's owner occupying the first floor. In contrast, the now-deceased family had been residing as tenants on the ground floor for the past two months.
