In a distressing incident, a 20-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly gang-raped by two drivers in a moving bus traveling from Uttar Pradesh to Jaipur, as reported by the police on Friday. The assault occurred during the night of December 9 and 10 while the private bus was en route to Jaipur from Uttar Pradesh, as reported by PTI.

The victim, who was traveling from Kanpur to Jaipur, was seated in the cabin when she was reportedly raped by the drivers identified as Arif and Lalit within the closed confines of the moving vehicle. Bhagwan Sahay Meena, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kanota police station, confirmed that Arif has been arrested and is currently in judicial custody, while Lalit is still at large and the subject of an ongoing search.

According to the SHO, there were a few passengers inside the bus while the victim was in the closed cabin. The woman raised an alarm during the assault, alerting fellow passengers who took swift action. They stopped the bus, apprehended Arif, but Lalit managed to escape.
