HIT 3 faces plagiarism allegations
As per a report in Live Law, the Madras High Court has issued the legal notice to Nani's HIT 3 team, on a plea of scriptwriter Vimalavelan, aka Vimal, who accused that the film’s story is copied from him.
Vimal told the court that HIT 3 is taken from his script which he had registered with the South Indian Film Writers’ Association since 4 August 2021. He also claimed that on August 8, 2022, he submitted the synopsis of his story to Nani with the intention to work with him but he didn't receive any response.
In his plea, he also wrote that he watched the film in theatres, and was shocked to see that Nani starrer was based on his script with minor changes.
The script writer also submitted a list of similarities between his script and the film.
Vimal also told the court that he had previously sent a legal notice to Nani and the team asking them to cease and desist from committing any infringement of his intellectual property, but received no response. He had also filed a complaint with the South Indian Film Writers' Association, with proof but there was no action.
He also claimed of incurring financial loss because of the film's team. So, he has now sought payment for damages and compensation of 20% of the film’s profits.
The Madras High Court has given HIT 3 team until July 7, to respond to Vimal's accusations.
