Amanda Anisimova vowed to keep believing in herself after a damaging defeat in the Wimbledon final.

The American was defeated 6-0 6-0 by Iga Swiatek in what was a ruthless performance from her Polish counterpart.

Anisimova failed to find her range and struggled on serve throughout, making just 19 first serves from 42 attempts (42.4%) and only winning five of those points.

She also committed 28 unforced errors to Swiatek’s 11 as the six-time grand slam winner’s experience showed at SW19.

Despite the defeat, Anisimova has had a brilliant Wimbledon campaign.

She became just the fourth woman to defeat the WTA's top-ranked player at Wimbledon en route to a maiden grand slam final, and the second woman in the Open Era to make the final of a grand slam having lost in qualifying at the previous year's event.

An emotional Anisimova showed gratitude to the fans, to Swiatek, and to her family, specifically her mother, who flew in from the United States on Saturday morning.

"Some of my family have flown in, it's been unbelievable to experience this with you all. I wouldn't be standing here if you guys didn't fly in and support me throughout the tournament," Anisimova said on Centre Court.

"You guys were that extra inspiration and motivation. You've always believed in me.

"My mom, who flew in this morning, I would definitely not be standing here without [her]. My mom's put in more work than I have honestly.

"Thank you for being here and breaking the superstition of flying in - it's definitely not why I lost today!

"I'm so happy that I get to share this moment and for you to be here and to witness this in person. You don't get to witness me live much any more because you do so much for me and my sister, but I love you so much.

"Thank you Iga. You're such an incredible player and it obviously showed today. You've been such an inspiration to me.

"You've had such an incredible two weeks here. Getting to your first Wimbledon final here and winning is so special. Well done to you and your team.

"Lastly, I know I didn't have enough today but I'll keep putting in the work. I keep believing in myself and I hope to be back here one day. Thank you everyone."
