Alexander Bublik claimed his first clay-court title with a 6-4 4-6 6-3 defeat of Juan Manuel Cerundolo at the Gstaad Open.

Bublik had to regain his composure after losing a tightly fought second set, but recovered brilliantly to cruise away to victory.

The Kazakh, who did not drop a set en route to the final, has now won a sixth ATP Tour-level title, and his second of 2025, following on from his success on the grass at the Halle Open prior to Wimbledon.

"It was a real pleasure to come here," said Bublik, who will surge back into the top 30 of the rankings next week.

"I can't wait to come back next year. The beautiful Alps. It's an amazing spot. I'm really happy that I'm standing here as a winner, but even if I'd lost in the first round, the view is amazing anyway.

"This is my sixth title and I have played the greats of the game, but this final I will remember as one of the toughest I ever played."

Elsewhere, Denis Shapovalov downed Aleksandar Kovacevic to triumph at the Los Cabos Open.

The Canadian scooped his fourth Tour-level title with a 6-4 6-2 victory, as he warmed up for the summer hard-court swing in style.

Data Debrief: First time's the charm

Bublik, who was making his debut at the Gstaad Open, is the 14th active male player to pick up Tour-level titles on all three surfaces.

He is just the second man representing Kazakhstan to triumph at an ATP Tour clay-court event, after Andrey Golubev in Hamburg 15 years ago.

Shapovalov, meanwhile, did not lose a set on his way to succeeding in Mexico. He is the sixth player to win multiple Tour-level titles in 2025, but just the fourth player to win a trophy this year without dropping a set, after Ugo Humbert, Taylor Fritz and Tallon Griekspoor.
