A minor blast occurred for the second time in just 30 hours in Amritsar, close to the Golden Temple, on Monday morning. According to Indian Express, no casualties were reported, but two people suffered minor injuries, and a car windshield was broken. The first blast took place near the Bansal sweet shop, while the second blast occurred close to the same spot on the opposite side.
The police have cordoned off the area and started an investigation. The area is being scanned for any hidden explosives. The police noted that the absence of a triggering mechanism indicates that a crude kind of device was used. The significance of the timing of the blast will also be investigated, particularly with the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat by-poll slated for May 10.
