Maharashtra Reports 13 New Coronavirus Cases, Zero Death; Active Tally At 102

The health department in Maharashtra reported 13 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the overall number to 81,37,088, but no fresh deaths were reported.

Maharashtra on Wednesday logged 13 new Covid-19 cases, taking the overall tally to 81,37,088, while no fresh death linked to the infection was registered in the state, said the health department.

The state's coronavirus death toll remained unchanged at 1,48,420.


On Tuesday, Maharashtra reported eight Covid-19 cases, but no fatality due to the disease.

With 11,170 swab samples examined in the last 24 hours, the number of tests conducted across the state so far rose to 8,62,04,305, said a health department bulletin.

As per the bulletin, the Mumbai administrative circle reported the highest number of seven new cases followed by Pune (4) and Nashik and Kolhapur circles (one each).

An administrative circle consists of multiple districts.

The number of recovered cases rose to 79,88,566 after 21 patients recuperated from the respiratory illness in the last 24 hours, leaving the state with 102 active COVID-19 cases, said the department.


Of the 102 active COVID-19 cases, the highest number was in the Pune district (27)  followed by the Thane district (26) and Mumbai (23), among other districts.

Maharashtra's coronavirus recovery rate was 98.17 per cent, while the case fatality rate stood at 1.82 per cent.

According to the health department, as many as 5,66,064 passengers have arrived at Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur international airports since December 24 when authorities started screening travellers in the wake of a spurt in cases in some countries, including China.

As per the bulletin, 27 international flyers have tested positive for coronavirus in RT-PCR tests at these airports so far. The latest passenger to return a positive test hailed from Gujarat. 

Out of these 27 coronavirus-infected patients, seven were from Mumbai, three from Pune, and one each from Navi Mumbai, Amravati, and Sangli (all in Maharashtra). Others included five from Gujarat, two each from Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and one each from Goa, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Odisha, and Telangana, said the department.
