The Congress party, ahead of Karnataka Assembly elections results has started ringfencing its MLAs as it crossed the halfway mark in leads today. The party in its race to power expects a number between 110-115 to emerge victorious.
The party sources were quoted saying that Congress plans to take its MLAs to Tamil Nadu and is in touch with the leadership of the ruling DMK, reported NDTV. Arrangements were also being made to take elected Congress MLAs to Bengaluru by evening.
Congress leaders and political analysts invoked Rahul Gandhi's yatra, claiming it "energised" people and dented the incumbent BJP. Celebrations started early in the Congress as the leads started coming in.

The party will be faced with the task to deal with a possible tussle over the chief minister's post between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, if it comes to power.
Earlier in the morning, Congress leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son, Yathindra Siddaramiah, said his father should be chief minister for the sake of Karnataka.
"We will do anything to keep BJP out of power...In the interest of Karnataka, my father should become the chief minister," Yathindra Siddaramaiah told news agency ANI.
The Congress party has campaigned hard to gain power from the BJP, which fought to break the 38-year-old pattern of alternating governments.
