Vindu Dara Singh, son of late actor Dara Singh, who played Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar’s TV show ‘Ramayan’, has joined the list of celebs to slam the portrayal of the character in Om Raut’s ‘Adipurush’. In the film, actor Devdatta Nage was seen in the role of Hanuman.

Vindu, in a recent interview with Hindustan Times, said that the actor couldn’t “even talk in proper Hindi.” He said, “They have made him into something else with the dialogues given to him. Maybe they were targeting the younger generation, who watch Marvel movies such as Thor. And they have failed terribly.”

For the unversed, Hanuman’s dialogues in the film were criticised.

Vindu then remembered his late father’s performance in the television show and said, “nobody ever can recreate what he did. He made history.” He called the ‘Adipurush’ makers “shameful”, and added that they “can’t touch my father’s legacy. They can’t even measure up to Hanuman’s tail. They are not even close.”

Vindu further mentioned how the makers of ‘Adipurush’ had a “golden chance” to make a film based on Ramayan with a huge budget. “I don’t know if they were drugged out or what were they thinking? The world knows that Ravan’s Lanka was made of gold, and they have made it with black-stone. Don’t even get me started on the Ravan’s ten-heads scene. They have introduced dragons in the story. They have just played with the story by doing funny things. It is disappointing.”

Vindu has also featured in the role of Hanuman a few times on television in shows like ‘Jai Veer Hanuman’, ‘Vishnu Puran’, ‘Ayodhya Ki Ramleela’ amongst others.
